Danyelle Allen
Danyelle Allen is a first-year graduate student in History at the University of Colorado Denver and currently serves as an Assistant Editor for the university’s Historic Studies Journal. Her primary interests are in European history, particularly England, Scotland, and Ireland. Danyelle is especially interested in topics such as the Tudor dynasty, the Jacobite uprisings, and Ireland’s Great Hunger. Her recent work has explored topics on the Jacobite Rising of 1745, the Black Death of 1348, and the ritual meanings of medieval public executions in England. She is also deeply engaged in the intersections of Black history and European history, with a focus on the lasting impacts of slavery. For her thesis, she hopes to examine how profits derived from slavery contributed to the establishment of major London institutions that continue to thrive today. More broadly, she is drawn to the social histories of marginalized and ordinary people, seeking to illuminate the everyday experiences often overlooked in traditional narratives.
