Britt Henslee
Britt Henslee is an MA student at CU Denver and the Editor-in-Chief of Volume 43 of the university’s Historical Studies Journal. In addition to her work with the journal, Britt works as a part of CU Denver’s English Department teaching Core Composition I and II. She is also a research assistant for the Auraria Project—a series of interconnected academic and community efforts to remember those displaced to build the Auraria campus. Britt is a cultural and intellectual historian who examines histories of knowledge exchange and identity-making. Her thesis follows a Caribbean botanical, guaiacum, across the Atlantic, exploring how the language used to describe the herb and its benefits changed as it entered new spaces that stripped it of its original meaning in the processes of linguistic and cultural translation.
